Irishfest La Crosse has been a member of the Association of Irish & Celtic Festivals since Irishfest La Crosse began and is proud to be hosting this Celebration of St. Brigid, with them and the generous support from the Embassy of Ireland. This free, virtual concert is celebrating St. Brigid, Patron Saint of Ireland (yes, there are other Irish saints besides St. Patrick) with music from a mix of celebrated female Irish performers. St. Brigid's Day is February 1 so we will be hosting this concert on her feast day, Monday, February 1 at 7 p.m. CST
St. Brigid is one of Ireland’s patron saints, although not quite as famous as her male counterpart, St. Patrick, but has legends and tales all her own. The AICF, which is dedicated to bringing the Irish culture to the United States via Irish and Celtic Festivals, wanted to celebrate her importance and bring her holiday, February 1st, to the forefront.
Erin O’Rourke, from Indy Irish Fest, and one of the executive board members for the AICF organization, said, “After our success with our Irish Christmas Concert, and reaching new audiences through our programming, we wanted to continue our mission of education, and what better way than through St. Brigid’s Day, and a celebration of the female spirit. We hope that by highlighting this Irish patron saint and her holiday and stories, we can entertain and educate audiences with a program that celebrates her, and some of the best female Irish musicians and dancers across the world.”
This event would not also be possible without the generous support of the Embassy of Ireland, and their continued support of the AICF mission of bringing the Irish culture, via music, education, food and dance, to those not in Ireland in the hopes that those traditions are never lost.
Emer Rocke, Ireland’s Deputy Ambassador to the United States, had this to say about St. Brigid: ‘‘From Annie Moore to Mother Jones, Georgia O’Keefe to Maureen O’Hara, Irish women and their daughters have blazed a trail across every sphere of American life. In the week this country’s first woman Vice President took office, I’m delighted to join friends at the AICF in announcing this celebration of remarkable women artists. Rooted in the Celtic festival of Imbolc, Brigid’s day has a history every bit as storied and significant as St Patrick’s. And, in the years ahead, our Embassy team and seven Consulates – four of which are led by female diplomats - are determined it should be just as widely celebrated.’’
Taking place on February 1 at 7:00 p.m. CST, the AICF will be showcasing eight acts from all over the world, highlighting some of the best female Irish music and dance performers. From established acts to up and coming groups, this all-female celebration highlights an important piece of Celtic culture.

Sad day for Irishfest La Crosse!
Our 16th year of Irishfest La Crosse is officially cancelled. What was to be a special year with a tremendous lineup and some new attractions has to be put on hold until August 2021.
We have always had a close relationship with the good folks that handle the Milwaukee Irish Fest and when they officially cancelled a few days ago we knew we were in trouble. Because of this relationship we've been able to bring some of the best Irish Entertainment to La Crosse. As a smaller festival, we cannot afford to bring that top-notched entertainment to the Midwest on our own.
Casey has been working with all the agents for the entertainers and at this time, rather than having them return deposits, it appears most of the groups will hold on to those dollars and just consider them a down payment for 2021. We’re hopeful we can have the same lineups for 2021.
We will be contacting the Sponsors to discuss options. Again, we are hopeful that most if not all will simply apply their 2020 sponsorships to 2021. If not, we’ll have to discuss refunds.
We have elected to follow the same options with ticket holders that Milwaukee adopted:
1) 2020 tickets will be reissued for admission in 2021
2) Dollars paid for tickets could simply be donated to Irishfest La Crosse
3) Ticket money can be refunded. Go to: support@gopassage.com
We will be contacting our vendors. Giving them the option of holding their deposits for 2021 or having them returned.
Because of the virus, summer 2020 will be very different with hundreds of activities being cancelled, postponed, or rescheduled into the Fall with hopes that we can return to safer environments.
We have had a great 15 year run with our Irishfest. Let’s just consider this a mild setback that gives us a great opportunity to plan the best fest possible in 2021.
