This will be the 19th year of genealogy at Irishfest, and Karen Hoel and Bill O’Driscoll have masterminded this area the entire time. The genealogy area features as an Irishfest family each year, and also displays informational displays from previous Irishfest families. This year long time volunteers Rod, Pam and their daughter Kelly Smith will have their family tree researched, and the results featured in the genealogy area along with stories of their forebears. While the genealogy area also includes displays of general genealogical interest and displays specific to Celtic heritage, the strength of the genealogy area features genealogy researchers answering our visitors questions in person and on the fly. With thanks to Ancestry for providing access to their databases during this weekend, our researchers investigate and hopefully resolve our visitor’s questions regarding their ancestors.
