The Shamrock Club of Wisconsin was formed in 1960 by individuals interested in promoting Irish Heritage.  Since that time, the club has grown into one of the largest ethnic organizations in the state, with chapters spread throughout Wisconsin.  Each chapter operates independently serving their particular area's Club needs.  The Greater La Crosse Area Shamrock Club, inc. was started in 1973.

The mission of the LBFA is to assist the people of La Crosse and surrounding area in learning about the traditions, history, way of life and values of Bantry, Ireland, while at the same time encouraging the people of Bantry to learn the traditions, history, way of life, and values of La Crosse and the United States.

Our relationship with Bantry, Ireland, is unique and features cooperative efforts in such diverse activities as education, sports, the arts, government agencies and public policy, business, and many others. 
La Crosse’s varied cultural backgrounds of its citizens has resulted in an environment that ensures foreign visitors are welcome. We support a variety of cultural activities and events. Many of these events are supported and coordinated by the City’s International Committee.

In addition, the City of La Crosse has an active International Committee, which ensures representation from each of our six Sister Cities. This committe brings together citizens interested in promoting international awareness and citizen diplomacy.

Overlooking Bantry Bay in the heart of West Cork, Bantry town is situated just over 55-miles west of Cork city. It functions as a large Market town providing commercial, retail and tourism/leisure facilities for locals and visitors alike.

Bantry is an important tourism location and is a designated outdoor activity hub in west Cork with a wide variety of activities available all year round. Water sports, Horse riding, Angling and Cycling are some of the outdoor activities available in the area.

The town is conveniently situated between the Beara and Sheep’s head peninsulas giving access the to Beara Way and the award winning Sheep’s head way with some of the finest walking tracks in the country in close proximity.

Also, La Crosse Bantry Friendship Association is submitting a series of articles about La Crosse and the twinning relationship goals, possible exchanges, etc. – one article will be on the La Crosse Irishfest.

The Monarch Public House

Nestled in the bluffs on the Mississippi River, The Monarch Public House in Fountain City, Wisconsin, has been a destination for travelers since 1894.

The historic tavern and restaurant still features the original hand carved oak back bar, ornate pressed tin ceilings and 100 year old tables and chairs. The display of authentic memorabilia and the details of meticulous restoration enhance its turn-of-the-century charm.

The Conference of Celtic Women, Inc. is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to inspiring, showcasing, educating and supporting Celtic women through conferences and lectures. There are two components to CoCW; they are monthly lectures called the Celtic Women First Friday Lecture Series, and the annual Conference of Celtic Women. All of these activities take place at the Irish Cultural and Heritage Center, located at 2133 West Wisconsin Avenue, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

  • Follow I-90 east to exit 3A to “US-53 S/WI-35 to La Crosse” and go south Follow US-53 south for about 3.9 miles
  • Continue on 3rd Street to downtown parking
  • Walk back to the festival grounds (4 blks).
  • Your destination is at the intersection of 2nd St. & La Crosse St.: 601-615 2nd St N, La Crosse, WI 54603

  • Follow I-90 west to exit 3 to “US-53 S/WI-35 to La Crosse/Onalaska
  • Follow the ramp to the left toward La Crosse
  • Follow US-53 south for about 4 miles
